As the summit progresses, targets and goals will be agreed upon that countries will strive to achieve in the coming years in an attempt to make a huge difference to the world’s climate. Yet there are small things we can do in our homes that collectively could make a big difference. Christmas is the one time of year when energy saving is completely forgotten about. Christmas tree lights, decorations, seasonal themed street lighting... but in light of the Copenhagen Climate Summit each of us should be doing our bit to reduce energy consumption during the festive season. Energenie, the manufacturer of the latest automatic standby shutdown technologies, takes care of this problem, quick, easily and saves you money. Energenie’s Automatic Standby Shutdown not only helps cut your carbon footprint, it also cuts energy bills and reduces the risk of electrical fires. Simply plug appliances such as televisions, hair straighteners or Christmas tree lights into the Automatic Standby Shutdown and after going into standby mode, Energenie automatically cuts off the electricity supply. It’s quick, safe and simple. Alan J. Tadd, Managing Director, Energenie, commented: “It’s great that politicians are taking positive action against climate change. It’s clear that we can’t continue they way we have been in the past and this is demonstrated by the increase in freak weather conditions like flooding and gale force winds.” “However, we should all be thinking about what we can do as individuals to make a difference. Using a simple device, such as the Automatic Standby Shutdown, that will turn your television off properly rather than leaving it on standby all night, every night will have a big impact. Energy saving products, like the Automatic Standby Shutdown, provides us with quick, easy and cost effective solutions that can be used in the home or office straight away. There’s no need to go out and spend hundreds of pounds on a new TV, but there is a need to start taking steps toward conserving energy.” Energenie’s Automatic Standby Shutdown is recommended and certified by the Energy Saving Trust. Nigels Ecostore Blog 20th October 2008 Energy Saving Week (20-26 October) This week is Energy Saving Week. In an effort to save energy and reduce some of our bills I’ve been on even more of an energy saving mission myself over the last few weeks. In the last month I’ve been using a standby saver called Energenie.. It’s a really clever little device that detects when you switch something to standby and automagically disconnects it from the mains. It might not seem like a big thing, but according to the Energnie Saving Trust, who run Energy Saving Week, stuff like TVs, stereos and computers left on standby in the UK use 7 Terra Watts of energy every year and costs us around £1 billion. Someone with a calculator worked out the emissions from all that wasted energy is the equivalent of about 1.4 million long haul flights. I’ve also been toying with the Energy Saving Gas Net, which converts lost heat and gas from inefficient gas hob into heat and energy. Not only a great energy saver, but my sausages have never cooked so well. While it is handy having all these gadgets to try out, the big difficulty is getting the rest of the family to remember to turn off the lights, close the curtains and not leave the heating on all the time. At least the Energenie means no one can leave the TV on standby all night! The Guardian - It pays to be green 25th September 2008 Energenie Standby Shutdown is an automatic shutdown device that turns off appliances ledt on standby at the mains in two minutes. The Guardian - News in brief 25th September 2008 Switch to Green There's a new e-book available urging businesses to consider upping their green credentials - and indeed suggesting that to do otherwise is financial suicide. A new goverement paper says much the same thing, but where is the practical help? It;s with this in mind that manufacture Energenie has started pitching its Standby Shutdown plug into businesses as well as into domestic settings. The idea is that a product is left on standby for longer than two minutes - using possibly 70% of the power it woukd take up under normal circumstances, according to Energenie - than Standby Shutdown device switches it off.
Harlow HeraldGovernment must reduce energy useALAN Tadd, Harlow businessman and owner of new Energenie product range, has called on Government departments to be more proactive and lead the way in showing the British public how to save energy and money. Mr Tadd's comments came in response to Prime Minister Gordon Brown's announcement this week which focused on energy efficiency measures for households. |
